Begin your Australian adventure in vibrant Sydney.  Check out the city, get behind the scenes at the Sydney Opera House and enjoy sailing around Sydney Harbour eating a barbeque lunch and sipping wine.  Next you’re off to Perth to enjoy their well known amazing weather, blue skies and perfect beaches.  Tour the twin cities Perth and Fremantle before cruising to Rottnest Island for a day tour.  Get ready for a photo with a quokka!  A visit to the Margaret River region is a must while in Perth, known for its wine, beaches and adventure.  Spend your visit exploring the region and indulging in amazing food and wine. Finishing your adventure by exploring Broome including a sunset camel ride on Cable Beach and a memorable visit to Horizontal Falls which includes a seaplane tour, jet boat ride and cruise on the Falls.  Return home having experienced an off the beaten path itinerary you won’t forget.

DAY BY DAY:

Day 1:   Today you arrive into Sydney, transfer to hotel, drop your bags and (3 nights Sydney)

 

Day 2:   The best way to get an understanding of a new city is to go on a tour and this morning you get to do just that with a half day Sydney city tour. Enjoy a panoramic tour to see the historic Rocks area and hear early convict history. See magnificent views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge, the shopping heart of the city, Queen Victoria Building and Sydney Tower. Travel on to famous Bondi Beach and visit the beachfront promenade with time to enjoy a coffee or cool drink (at own cost). This afternoon you get to tour the Sydney Opera House, a world heritage listed building.   The Sydney Opera House Tour guides are the only guides who can take you inside the theatres and glass harbor foyers, which are otherwise off limits. Finishing at Opera Bar to indulge like a local Sydneysider with a choice of Australian inspired mains. It’s difficult to find a better venue in Sydney to dine.

 

Day 3:  Sydney Harbour is stunning and you get to go sailing on it today for a 3 course barbeque lunch with local beers and regional wines.  Your personal host will share the rich history of Sydney Harbour and its foreshore as you take in the sights of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Sydney Opera House and the bays and coves of Sydney Harbour. Enjoy the company of a small group aboard a 52 foot motor yacht with activities such as swimming, kayaking and fishing, or sit back and relax on the expansive sunbed and do nothing at all.

 

Day 4:    Today you leave Sydney to head to Perth.  Transfer to Sydney Airport and arrive in Perth, transfer to your accommodation. (3 nights Perth).

 

Day 5:  Orientate yourself in Perth on a full day Grant Perth and Fremantle Tour.  This self-guided tour allows for full immersion into the twin cities of Perth and Fremantle, and enjoys Perth's Swan River. Starting in Perth, the tour takes in all major attractions of the revitalized Perth CBD. Then on to Kings Park Botanical Gardens to view wildflowers or take in the stunning views from the war memorial looking back over the city skyline. Continue through the affluent Western Suburbs of Perth, known as Millionaires' Row before reaching Cottesloe Beach where the Indian Ocean sparkles. Travel on into historic Fremantle and leave your coach tour here to enjoy the atmosphere and stop for lunch (own expense) at the many cafes and eateries, with its famous fish and chips restaurants at the Fishing Boat Harbour. Take the Fremantle Tram for a scenic tour of Fremantle and enjoy the beauty of this famous marine port. Finish this relaxing day by catching the late afternoon cruise back to Perth along the pristine Swan River, sampling local wines if desired before arriving back into Perth along with million dollar views of Kings Park, Yacht Clubs and the new Elizabeth Quay.

 

Day 6:   You’re off to Rottnest Island today on a full day tour.  Transfer from your hotel to Pier 4 for your cruise to Rottnest Island.  Explore the beauty and tranquility of Rottnest as you relax in the comfort of an air-conditioned coach on a 90 minute tour of the island.  It will take you to some of Rottnest's most spectacular locations and provides you with a complete interpretation of the island. Get an insight into the island's cultural and historical heritage, diverse wildlife, fauna and social heritage. You will also have a chance to stroll along the boardwalk at the majestic look out point at West End. Enjoy lunch at Rottnest (Karma) Lodge, followed by free time at your leisure before boarding the ferry to depart the island. Cruise back to Perth in time for dinner.

 

Day 7:   Leaving Perth today you are embarking on a 3 day tour of Margaret River. You get to explore Margaret River's stunning scenery and fantastic attractions wineries, galleries, breweries, forests, cave and lighthouse tour and local artisan producers of delicious cheese, chocolate and olive oil.  Leaving Perth on a scenic drive through the charming seaside towns of Mandurah, where we’ll take a coffee break at a café by the foreshore; Bunbury where we’ll visit the Featured Wood Gallery & Museum, then onto Busselton where we stop for a delicious lunch. Following lunch we’ll take a leisurely walk along the famous Busselton Jetty, the longest timber pile jetty in the southern hemisphere stretching 1.8km out into picturesque Geographe Bay. After stretching our legs at the jetty we turn for Margaret River where you’ll have some free time in town to stroll along the main street and maybe pick-up a special memento or gift to take home. As the day winds down, we head to the McLeod family farm to see mobs of Western Grey Kangaroos in their natural environment, we might even meet Neil’s friendly horses… Before settling into your accommodation, we take a drive to the coast for spectacular views of world class surf breaks. Your night will be spent in comfort at the four-star Margarets Beach Resort (by the coast). (2 nights Margaret River)

 

Day 8:   Today is packed with amazing food, wine, culture and scenery, as we join the popular Eat + Drink + Explore Tour. You depart your accommodation at 8:20am for breakfast at The White Elephant café by the beach. After breakfast you begin a day spent tasting wine, craft beer, coffee, cheese, olive oil and condiments, and everyone’s favorite – chocolate! Lunch is at the award-winning Black Brewing Co, where you’ll also enjoy a complimentary crafted brew, or some lovely local wine. We return to your accommodation at around 5:00pm, where you’ll be able to relax after a busy day.

 

Day 9:  You’re off to explore the region’s stunning scenery and fantastic natural and cultural attractions on the Forest, Cave & Lighthouse tour. Check out at 7:20am for breakfast by the beach, then you make your way south to Redgate Beach, where you’ll hear stories of shipwrecks and other tales of the region. The tour goes underground at the spectacular Mammoth Cave, one of just a few caves in the south west which contains fossils. A scenic drive through the majestic Boranup Forest will take you to Boranup Gallery, showcasing beautiful and creative wood designs and furniture. There’s a short tea and coffee break then it’s time to head to Hamelin Bay’s spectacular beach with its fine white sand, clear blue water and friendly stingrays swimming in the shallows. Pass through Augusta with stunning views of the Blackwood River before arriving at the tallest lighthouse on mainland Australia, Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, where you’ll take a guided tour and spot the point where the Southern and Indian oceans meet. Watch out for whales – southern right, humpback and blue whales can often be seen from the towers! After a lunch break depart for your transfer back to Perth.  You’ll arrive back in time for dinner.

 

Day 10:   Today you leave Perth for Broom.  Transfer to Perth airport for a flight to Broom.   Accommodation is at the Cable Beach Club. Relax at the award-winning Cable Beach Club Resort and Spa is the only resort in Broome with views overlooking Cable Beach. (3 nights Broome). 

 

Day 11:   Enjoy a relaxing morning at the Cable Beach Club.  This afternoon you’re off to see Broome sights and enjoy a sunset camel ride. Learn about the ancient art of pearling from one of the local pearl producers, Cygnet Bay, and enjoy a historical sound show at the famous Sun Pictures, the world's oldest operating open air picture garden. Pass typical Broome architecture and old Pearling Masters homes en route to the aqua waters of Roebuck Bay at Town Beach. At Matsos Broome Brewery, sample their hand made ales and famous ginger beer. Visit the tranquil Japanese Cemetery and take an easy paced walk at Gantheaume Point known for dinosaur footprints and the story of Anastasia's Pool. Complete the day with an iconic sunset camel ride on Cable Beach.

 

Day 12:  Today you’re off to explore the famous Horizontal Falls.  After a courtesy bus pick up from your accommodation, board Horizontal Fall Seaplane Adventures 14 seat turbo prop jet seaplane. Flying directly from Broome to the Horizontal Falls. Board our 900hp fast boat and experience an exhilarating thrill ride through the falls, followed by a relaxing scenic cruise of the surrounding bays. Experience the thrill of swimming in our huge croc / shark free cage and feeding our friendly fish. Enjoy a cooked breakfast or Barramundi BBQ lunch onboard our luxury vessel. Have your camera ready as your return flight takes off from Talbot Bay, flying low across the Buccaneer Archipelago, Cape Leveque, Lombadina, Beagle Bay, Willie Creek Pearl Farm, Cable Beach and Broome township prior to landing. This is a half day tour and you have the option to book a full day.

 

Day 13:  You leave Broome today to fly back to Perth. Back in Perth for your last night in Australia. (1 night Perth)

 

Day 14:   Today you’ll start your journey back home.

To travel to Australia you will need a US passport valid for at least 6 months and we can process an ETA Visa for free for US Citizens.  We will need a copy of your Photo Page of your Passport.  Nationalities of any other countries please enquire with your agent to see if you are eligible for a free ETA Visa or if you need to apply for a Visitor Visa.

To travel to New Zealand you will need a US passport valid for at least 6 months and an NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority. More information on the NZeTA application requirements and process can be found on our FAQ page here.

All of the sample itineraries on this website do not include airfares as the airfare price changes daily and to ensure you get the best possible price we will work with the best airfares at the time.  If you happen to buy your airfare first and then need a package to fit it, we can certainly help with that as well, just let us know.

 

As an idea for a 2-week vacation to Australia or New Zealand we recommend a budget of around $8,000-10,000 (including economy airfare), this would be for a 4 star and above itinerary, a little cheaper if we did more moderate accommodations.
