DAY BY DAY:

Day 1:     Arrive in Tasmania's capital city, Hobart and transfer to your accommodation. Enjoy the day at leisure - you may like to stroll through Hobart's legendary Salamanca Markets and visit one of Tasmania's many attractions, MONA. The Museum of Old and New Art is one of the world's most unique and controversial museums. View the largest private art collection in Australia with its fascinating blend of ancient and modern art. (3 nights Hobart, Night 1 accommodation at MACq 01)

Day 2: Today take an unforgettable journey via scenic flight into the rugged and remove West Coast Wilderness. Join the award-winning Gordon River Cruise in Strahan; cruise across Macquarie Harbour to the tranquil reaches of the Gordon River, which is sure to be one of the highlights of your Tasmanian sojourn. First stop is Heritage Landing in the rainforest, where you will take a walk among ancient temperate rainforest trees, many of them Gondwanan relicts. You can then explore the world of convicts of Sarah Island, the site of Tasmania's most remote and notorious convict settlement. Once back in Strahan, you will have the opportunity to stroll around the quaint town before returning by air to Hobart.  (Hobart Night 2 accommodation at MACq 01)

Day 3: The Tasman Peninsula and Port Arthur Historic Site are some of Tasmania's most visited destinations. Tasmania's famous convict settlement site features many attractions and your experienced guide will bring its history alive. Visit the famous geological features of the peninsula as you explore the rugged coastline. In the afternoon meet Tasmania's enigmatic character, the Tasmanian Devil before returning to Hobart. (Hobart Night 3 accommodation at Hotel Grand Chancellor)

Day 4: Enjoy a scenic drive along Tasmania's East Coast to the Freycinet Peninsula, with its exceptional beauty, pristine white sandy beaches and granite coastline. Explore the unsurpassed beauty of the Freycinet National Park. Take an interpreted walk to the world-famous Wineglass Bay lookout for some stunning photo opportunities. A shorter cliff top walk around the lighthouse at Cape Tourville is also on offer. (1 night Freycinet, either Freycinet Lodge or Saffire Lodge).

Day 5: Continue your journey to Launceston for an introductory tour to Tasmania's largest northern city; explore the scenic Cataract Gorge where the Tamar River forces its way through sheer rocky cliffs. Enjoy lunch at an award winning winery. After lunch leave Launceston and travel to UNESCO World Heritage listed Cradle Mountain National Park. (4 nights Launceston, Peppers Seaport Hotel)

Day 6:  Today your guide will introduce you to the many endemic fauna and flora species of the region whilst enjoying picturesque views of the spectacular craggy peaks of Cradle Mountain. After lunch start the return journey to Launceston where your guide will bid you farewell. Tour arrives at approximately 3.45pm into Launceston.

Day 7: You get to explore Launceston today.  Take a stroll along the Seaport dock and enjoy the relaxed waterfront atmosphere or relax on your balcony, better still take a spa day.

Day 8: Today, you’ll experience a full day Bay of Fires walk.  The scenery at the Bay of Fires is simply breathtaking - crystal azure blue waters with pristine white beaches and outcrops of orange lichen covered granite rocks.  This tour takes you through some of the prettiest locations in Tasmania. Visit Bridestowe Lavender farm (September to April) home of Bobbie the Lavender Bear. Enjoy a short rainforest walk and oyster tasting.

Day 9: Today is all about the Art of the Sparkling - Tasmania confidently holds its place as Australia's sparkling capital and arguably the greatest region for sparkling wine anywhere in the world outside of Champagne itself. Go behind the scenes and tour the Josef Chromy winery and learn how traditional method Sparkling wine is made. The art of making sparkling is explained (and tasted along the way) from base wine to corking and wiring. The tour commences at the Cellar Door and takes in the history of the vineyard and the Tasmanian Wine Industry. Guests will be taken through the sparkling wine making and disgorging process, then work with the winemaking team in the laboratory to choose and add the liquour, the final step in sparkling wine making. Each participant will produce a bottle of sparkling to their own taste to enjoy on the day and may order sparkling wine at their own dosage rate to be sent following their visit (own expense). Guests conclude with a 2 course lunch matched with wine and a complementary tasting.

Day 10:  Transfer to the Airport and board your flight home!
