ITINERARY OVERVIEW:

Combine cities, national parks and wildlife sanctuaries with wineries, vineyards and tropical islands.  Start your adventure in Sydney, explore the city, iconic Sydney Opera House and head to the famous Hunter Valley for a day exploring the boutique wineries and wine tasting.  Head off to Adelaide, discover the McLaren Vale wine region before flying to Kangaroo Island.  Explore the island in search of wildlife in its natural habitat.  Discover Flinders Chase National Park home to a wide variety of wildlife including kangaroos, wallabies, possums, goannas, echidnas, koalas, platypus and a myriad of bird species. Visit a fur seal colony before enjoying an elegant picnic lunch in the bush.  Now it’s time for your island escape.  Head to stunning Moorea to explore the tropical plants and mountainous landscapes on a 4WD tour, soak up the sun on the beaches, snorkel in the crystal-clear waters and enjoy a picnic on a sandy islet.  Relax by the pool, enjoy water sports, hit the spa and chill before heading back home.

DAY BY DAY:

Day 1:  Arrive into Sydney. You’ll be transported to your city accommodation.  The rest of the day is at your leisure. (4 nights Sydney)

 

Day 2:   Enjoy a half day panoramic tour to see the historic Rocks area and hear early convict history. Enjoy magnificent views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. See the shopping heart of the city, Queen Victoria Building and Sydney Tower. Visit Sydney’s trendy Oxford Street district and travel through Paddington with its terrace houses before arriving at the Pacific Ocean. See the superb coast cliff walk around Tamarama and Bronte. Travel on to famous Bondi Beach and visit the beachfront promenade with time to enjoy a coffee or cool drink (at own cost). See Aussie lifesavers and Sydney’s best panoramic view at Dover Heights. Return to Sydney via Double Bay, Kings Cross and Mrs Macquarie’s Point for a final magical viewpoint over the harbour before returning to the city centre.  See diverse suburbs and fantastic beaches. This afternoon you get to enjoy a guided tour of the world heritage listed building, the Sydney Opera House. After your tour, indulge like a local Sydneysider with a choice of Australian inspired mains at Opera Bar with some of the best harbour views in Sydney, offering alfresco and indoor seating.

 

Day 3:  You have another day at leisure to enjoy Sydney today.  We can suggest you take a stroll along the waterfront and through the Botanic Gardens, or you may like to explore further afield, taking a trip out to the Blue Mountains to go bushwalking or admire the striking Three Sisters sandstone rock formation. Located about an hour and a half from the city, you can take the train there and back or hire a car for the day.  Indulge in some shopping or relax and enjoy time at a luxury spa.  The choice is yours. 

 

Day 4:  Today you’re off on a wine tour in the Hunter Valley. Your guide will collect you from your Sydney hotel. Departing from the city, we travel to the Hunter Valley, which is nestled in the lee of the Great Dividing Range. 180 years young, this is Australia’s oldest and best known wine region and is soaked in history. It’s a dynamic and fascinating area that brims with over 150 top class wineries, 65 indulgent restaurants and gourmet produce and breweries. Sample exquisite wines at boutique wineries, enjoy learning about the wine making process, a winery lunch, cheese tasting, and a chocolate experience. 

 

Day 5:  Today you will fly to Adelaide and transfer to your accommodation. The rest of the day is yours to spend exploring. We recommend you explore the Central Market and make your way to the beach suburb of Glenelg for a late afternoon seafront walk. (2 nights Adelaide)

 

Day 6:   You get to explore the McLaren Vale wine region today. Enjoy the beautiful coastline of the Fleurieu Peninsular with its glistening vistas of Gulf St Vincent and pristine beaches on our way to the McLaren Vale wine region McLaren Vale is best known for Shiraz. We pass through rolling vistas of vineyards to visit up to four picturesque wineries in the Vale'. Each one is steeped in history with friendly knowledgeable staff, happy to guide you through each wine tasting experience. A delicious Restaurant lunch with a glass of wine is included. Then back to Adelaide for the evening.

 

Day 7:  Transfer to Adelaide Airport for you flight to Kangaroo Island. Upon arrival, an Exceptional Kangaroo Island vehicle will pick you up from the airport to commence a multi-day Kangaroo Island Wanderer tour. Stroll through a eucalypt forest spotting koala snoozing overhead. Travel through some of the Island's best farming country to the North Coast. Visit the habitat of the world's rarest cockatoo and seek out wallabies and kangaroos in the wild. After a delicious seafood barbecue lunch, visit Seal Bay where you can walk amongst the Australian Sea Lions with your guide. Explore more of the island before being set down at your accommodation. Dinner is included this evening. (2 nights at Kangaroo Island)

 

Day 8:   After breakfast your guide will pick you up to travel to Flinders Chase National Park, which provides a breeding habitat for the rare Cape Barren Goose and is also home to a wide variety of wildlife including kangaroos, wallabies, possums, goannas, echidnas, koalas, platypus and a myriad of bird species. Visit a fur seal colony before enjoying an elegant picnic lunch in the bush. In the afternoon sample more of Kangaroo Island before returning to your accommodation. Dinner is included.

           

Day 9:  After breakfast transfer to Kingscote Airport. Tour concludes at approximately 11.05am at Adelaide Airport. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.  (1 night Adelaide)

 

Day 10:  Transfer to Adelaide Airport for flight to Tahiti at Papeete International Airport.  You will be met at the airport and transferred to the pier for your short ferry ride to Moorea and your accommodation. Nestled between two bays on the heart-shaped island of Moorea and set against a beautiful mountain backdrop which melts into a crystal-clear lagoon is the Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort & Spa.  The Hilton is Moorea’s exclusive five-star resort. This exotic property’s warm Polynesian bungalows are nestled within lush gardens and a lovely, sandy beach which rests against the sapphire lagoon bursting with coral and tropical marine life. One of our favorite features of this property is the overwater Toatea Bar & Creperie where guests can enjoy an incredible view of the horizon and sunset while sipping cocktails or dining – be sure to catch the shark and ray feeding frenzy after sunset!  (4 nights Moorea)

 

Day 11:  Today is at your leisure.  Enjoy complimentary water non-motorized sports equipment including snorkeling, kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards.  Sit by the pool, relax or hit the spa.

 

Day 12:  Come explore the lush tropical and mountainous landscapes of Moorea. Your adventure begins in the back of a covered, but open 4x4 pickup truck. The experienced local driver will narrate points of interest along the way. The endless views are the perfect setting of motion pictures, and some have been filmed here. Let your imagination run wild, just maybe a dinosaur will appear! There will be stops along the way as picture taking is highly encouraged.

 

Day 13:  Today you’ll take a short boat ride from shore to this small island get away for a picnic on the motu (islet). Once on the motu, you can snorkel in the shallow waters watching the daily activities of the local sea life. Or you may enjoy some sun as you sit or swim in the crystal-clear waters of Moorea and let your cares melt away. All the while surrounded by the some of the most spectacular waters in the world. You can snorkel or explore the island, or simply relax and watch one of the demonstrations of coconut husking and cracking. If you are lucky, some of the local staff may break out their instruments and play a few Tahitian musical tunes. 

 

Day 14:  Leaving Moorea today for your boat ride back to Papeete International Airport for your flight back home.

To travel to Australia you will need a US passport valid for at least 6 months and we can process an ETA Visa for free for US Citizens.  We will need a copy of your Photo Page of your Passport.  Nationalities of any other countries please enquire with your agent to see if you are eligible for a free ETA Visa or if you need to apply for a Visitor Visa.

To travel to New Zealand you will need a US passport valid for at least 6 months and an NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority. More information on the NZeTA application requirements and process can be found on our FAQ page here.

We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect your investment. We will provide a travel insurance quote at the time of booking, and you are free to use our recommended insurance with Travelguard, find your own, or book without insurance.

All of the sample itineraries on this website do not include airfares as the airfare price changes daily and to ensure you get the best possible price we will work with the best airfares at the time.  If you happen to buy your airfare first and then need a package to fit it, we can certainly help with that as well, just let us know.

 

As an idea for a 2-week vacation to Australia or New Zealand we recommend a budget of around $8,000-10,000 (including economy airfare), this would be for a 4 star and above itinerary, a little cheaper if we did more moderate accommodations.
