ITINERARY OVERVIEW:

This is your romantic getaway to the Cook Islands.  Picture a pristine paradise that is not overrun with tourists.  You’ll find no buildings taller than a coconut tree, no stop lights and a warm, sunny climate all year round perfect for enjoying white sandy beaches, relaxing in a hammock, or exploring the lagoon.   You will find the island way of life is perfect for letting yourself chill out.  Have a romantic picnic on an island motu and wander around Rarotonga to explore Polynesian culture at its best.  Visit Aitutaki, a short flight north of Rarotonga.  This secluded and romantic island has stunning surroundings with one of the most spectacular lagoons in the world.  You get to discover the lagoon on a cruise where you will see banded damsels, butterfly fish and giant clams in their natural habitat. Eat lunch on the beautiful One Foot Island which has the world’s only registered post office on an uninhabited island.   Snorkel, explore and relax before heading back home.

DAY BY DAY:

Day 1:   Arrive into the Cook Islands (Rarotonga International Airport). You will be met after clearing customs and transferred to your accommodation. Your accommodation is at the Muri Beach Club Hotel an adult-only resort with a location right at the heart of one of Rarotonga’s most outstanding natural features – Muri Lagoon. The lagoon is perfect for safe snorkeling, swimming, kayaking, wind or kite surfing, sailing and glass-bottomed boat rides, there’s always an opportunity to get out on the water and just relax away from it all at the 18 years and over resort.

 

Day 2:   You have the day at leisure today.  Rarotonga offers much for water lovers, including lagoon cruises, sports fishing, diving and sailing. The lagoon is a focal point of interest for visitors to Rarotonga.  The Muri Beach Club Hotel has complimentary use of kayaks, snorkeling gear and stand-up paddle boards or spend the day by the pool, swimming in the blue lagoon waters or relax at The Beauty & Spa on site.

 

Day 3:  Today enjoy a romantic picnic lunch for two packed in a basket ready for enjoyment on an island mot (a reef islet with vegetation), complete with your choice of Kayak or Treddlecat.  Celebrate with a complimentary bottle of Wolf Blass Cuvee Brut. 

 

Day 4:    You’re leaving Rarotonga today for beautiful Aitutaki. Transfer to the airport for your short flight to Aitutaki.  Upon arrival transfer to your accommodation at the Aitutaki Lagoon Resort & Spa where you have a beachfront bungalow waiting for you.  Aitutaki Lagoon Resort & Spa is directly on one of the world's most beautiful lagoons. This adult only exclusive all-bungalow resort is also the only private island resort in the Cook Islands. Soak up the panoramic views of super-natural Aitutaki Lagoon from your own personal paradise, on your own private island. The resort has stand-up paddle boards, snorkeling gear, sun lounges, hammocks and bicycles for guest use. (2 nights Aitutaki)

 

Day 5:   A lagoon cruise is one of the best ways to experience the beautiful lagoon of Aitutaki that measures to about 19km wide and 18km long. It is fringed by tiny islets known locally as Motu's with the main island of Aitutaki bordering its northern reef. Bishops Cruise includes of a visit to Motu Akaiami where back in the 1950s was a depot for the Coral Route, of one of the most famous routes flown by TEALs flying boats. Then a visit to the volcanic island of Moturakau is next. Join our captain as he hand feeds schools of banded damsels and butterfly fish. See giant clams in their natural habitat and learn of the clam propagation program that the Marine Department is implementing in the lagoon. You will also see plenty of Giant Trevally's swimming around. Your last stop for the day is the beautiful One Foot Island, here you will be served a picnic lunch consisting of fresh BBQ Fish and salads made from locally grown fruits and vegetables. All this is complemented with great entertainment by the crew on board. Take the time to send a postcard home from here. You can send your postcard from what is the world’s only registered post office located on an uninhabited island. Or bring your passport and have it stamped with a One Foot Island stamp as a souvenir of your unforgettable Aitutaki experience. Snorkel a little more, explore the island or relax in the sun before heading back to the main island.

 

Day 6:   You leave Aitutaki today on a short flight to Rarotonga and then transfer to the international airport for your flight home.

Visa requirements:

To travel to Australia you will need a US passport valid for at least 6 months and we can process an ETA Visa for free for US Citizens.  We will need a copy of your Photo Page of your Passport.  Nationalities of any other countries please enquire with your agent to see if you are eligible for a free ETA Visa or if you need to apply for a Visitor Visa.

To travel to New Zealand you will need a US passport valid for at least 6 months and an NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority. More information on the NZeTA application requirements and process can be found on our FAQ page here.

Travel Insurance:

We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect your investment. We will provide a travel insurance quote at the time of booking, and you are free to use our recommended insurance with Travelguard, find your own, or book without insurance.

A product that we can offer is a Cancel For Any Reason policy that will provide you with 80% back in refunds.  If the cancellation is for medical reasons there is a 100% refund..

All of the sample itineraries on this website do not include airfares as the airfare price changes daily and to ensure you get the best possible price we will work with the best airfares at the time.  If you happen to buy your airfare first and then need a package to fit it, we can certainly help with that as well, just let us know.

 

As an idea for a 2-week vacation to Australia or New Zealand we recommend a budget of around $8,000-10,000 (including economy airfare), this would be for a 4 star and above itinerary, a little cheaper if we did more moderate accommodations.
